New Delhi (India), February 11: In the aftermath of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)‘s internal meetings with Punjab MLAs, Aman Arora, AAP’s Punjab State President, revealed that discussions were centered around replicating the Delhi Model in Punjab at the grassroots level.
Arora said, “We have replicated the Delhi Model in Punjab and discussed how we can take our model to the grassroots.”
Arora further emphasized that these meetings were a regular occurrence, happening every six to eight months. “Many leaders of Punjab worked very hard for elections in Delhi, and Arvind Kejriwal thanked us for that. Arvind Kejriwal calls us from Punjab every 6-8 months for such meetings,” he added.
AAP MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer also spoke with confidence regarding potential political shifts in Punjab. He claimed that once the Congress clarified that Pratap Singh Bajwa, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, would not be the new Delhi CM candidate, Hayer expected him to follow in his brother’s footsteps and join the BJP. “I can give you in writing that the day Congress will make it clear that Pratap Singh Bajwa will not be the CM candidate, that day itself he is going to join BJP just like his brother,” Hayer said.
Regarding the meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, Hayer explained that such meetings were a routine part of the party’s internal process. “Everything is fine. We had meetings with our MLAs and ministers earlier as well. This is a routine process. Every party calls their leaders and holds such meetings,” Hayer added.
Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema elaborated on the focus of the meeting, stating that the discussions were centered on accelerating progress within the state over the next two years. “After the Delhi elections, the Punjab unit of AAP came to Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal thanked everyone. There was a discussion on how to speed up the work in Punjab in the coming 2 years,” Cheema explained, adding, “We will do more work and AAP will expand across the country.”
In the recent Delhi Assembly Elections, the BJP achieved a historic victory, securing 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. In contrast, AAP suffered a significant setback, winning only 22 seats, a major drop from its previous tally of 62 seats in 2020. This marks the BJP‘s return to power in the national capital after 27 years
