Mumbai: Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who is known as “Mr. Perfectionist,” has taken an unusual and quite funny way to announce the digital release of his hit movie Sitaare Zameen Par. The movie won’t be on big streaming services. Instead, it will be available for ₹100 on Aamir’s own YouTube channel, Aamir Khan Talkies, starting August 1, 2025. Khan asked his kids, Junaid Khan and Azad Rao Khan, to help him make this revelation in a funny skit based on his cult hit movie, Andaz Apna Apna (1994).
Aamir Khan announced the movie’s digital release at a press conference earlier this week. He said he wanted to make his movies available to more people, especially those who don’t have easy access to cinemas. He even said he was sorry for saying that the movie wouldn’t be available on digital platforms for a year after it came out in theaters. He said he “had to lie to protect the cinema then.”
The promotional video, which has immediately gone viral, starts with Aamir yelling at his chef for illegally downloading and watching Sitaare Zameen Par on his phone. The cook then tells him that “Junaid Babu” has a fresh plan. Next is a fun remake of a famous scene from Andaz Apna Apna, with Junaid Khan taking on the character of the ambitious “Amar,” which was originally played by Deven Verma. Aamir plays the role that was originally played by Deven Verma.
Before he talks about the YouTube release, Junaid says his father’s famous line, “Aaj mujhe ehsaas hua, ki aap purush hi nahi, maha purush hain!” In the sketch, Aamir makes fun of his own recent movie choices, Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), and jokes about how much money he lost. The climax comes when Junaid proudly says that he turned down a huge ₹100 crore offer from a big streaming service to put Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube for merely ₹100. A obviously “angry” Aamir reacts with a funny outburst, yelling, “Nikamme!” Namakool! Nepotism! “Yeh kya kiya tune?” A grown-up Azad Rao Khan looks into the room while the kids are pretending to fight. He doesn’t appear to care about the noise and casually locks the door, which has the movie’s release date on it: August 1. Rajkumar Santoshi, who directed the first Andaz Apna Apna, also appears in the promotional video.
In the comments, fans have been praising the father and son team. One person on the internet said, “Hahaha, I thought it would be cringe, but it was cute and funny.” Junaid and Aamir should absolutely do a funny movie together where they play father and son. Something like Dhamaal (2007), which is crazy, ridiculous, and funny. A lot of potential there. Another fan said, “I liked this more than any Aamir Khan movie I’ve seen in the last few years. 😂😂😂.” A lot of people said they were happy to see “this Aamir” again. The video also talked about how Junaid Khan is becoming more well-known in the business. A fan said, “On a completely different note, I saw Junaid in a play at Prithvi last night and he was very good.” It was good to see that he was so relaxed after the show and spent time with the audience.
Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy-drama that also stars Genelia Deshmukh. It is said to be a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan’s 2007 smash Taare Zameen Par. R. S. Prasanna directed the movie, which is said to have made more than ₹250 crore worldwide during its theatrical run, which started on June 20, 2025. Aamir Khan’s choice to skip traditional OTT channels and use YouTube instead, together with the ease of UPI payments in India, shows a fresh and creative way to distribute films that aims to make them more widely available.
