Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan revealed that he has successfully quit smoking after years of heavy consumption. The announcement came during the trailer launch event of his son Junaid Khan‘s debut film, Loveyapa, held in Mumbai on Friday.
Speaking candidly at the event, Aamir shared his personal journey of overcoming the addiction:
“I have given up smoking. Smoking is something I loved very much and enjoyed… itte saalo se main cigarette pee rha tha (I was smoking for so many years). But tobacco is not good for health, and no one should do it.”
Aamir expressed pride in his decision and used the platform to encourage others to follow suit:
“I am very happy to say that I have quit this bad habit. Since many people are watching and listening, I would like to tell them: Please quit this. It’s not a good habit and shouldn’t be done.”

The actor also disclosed the personal significance of his timing. As his son, Junaid Khan, is on the verge of launching his career in Bollywood, Aamir felt it was the right moment to set an example as a father.
“My son’s film is about to come. I felt it was the right moment to quit, so I vowed not to smoke. Whether it works or not, as a father, I wanted to make this sacrifice.”
