New Delhi – The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), under India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, on Thursday urged the public, media, and commentators to avoid drawing premature conclusions regarding the tragic Air India plane crash that claimed numerous lives.
“It is essential to respect the sensitivity of family members of deceased passengers, crew, and others who died on the ground due to the plane crash,” the AAIB said in an official statement.
Amid ongoing speculation and media discussions, the bureau stressed that no definite conclusions can be made at this stage as the probe is still in progress.
“It’s too early to reach any definite conclusions on the Air India plane crash; the probe is still not complete,” it added.
The AAIB further clarified that updates will be released only when deemed necessary:
“AAIB will publish updates on the Air India plane crash that have technical or public interest value as and when required.”
It also dismissed unverified narratives surrounding the incident, urging the public to exercise restraint and wait for the official findings.
“The final probe report will come out with root causes and recommendations. Refrain from spreading premature narratives.”
The agency’s remarks come after public and media scrutiny over initial findings, including cockpit conversations and mechanical speculations, some of which have caused distress among families and sparked debate among aviation experts and pilots’ associations.
