Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane made fun of Aaditya Thackeray, the president of the Shiv Sena (UBT), for not wanting to witness the India vs. Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match. Rane further suggested that Thackeray would wear a “burqa” to the big game so that no one would know he was there
Rane made light of Thackeray’s opposition to the match, which is slated for Sunday, when he chatted to the press on Saturday. Rane said, “Aaditya Thackeray will wear a burqa and watch the India-Pakistan game in secret.” He made another joke, adding that Thackeray’s voice was so unusual that even if he wore a burqa, it would help him hide who he was. Rane also acted like him, which made it appear like Thackeray would say “Pakistan zindabad.”
Rane’s comments were a response to Aaditya Thackeray’s criticism of the match, which made things very hard. After the Pahalgam terror assault and “Operation Sindoor,” the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT) remarked, “Can blood and cricket flow together?” Uddhav Thackeray, his father, agreed with him.
Uddhav Thackeray has also spoken out against the event, calling it a “insult to national sentiments” and to the soldiers who have died in the line of duty. He said, “How can blood and cricket go together if blood and water can’t?” taking use of the fact that his father was Bal Thackeray.
Many opposition groups, especially the AIMIM, are upset with the BJP and the BCCI for going forward with the match even though there had been concerns previously. This is a big deal in politics right now. The fight between Rane and the Thackerays reveals how emotional and political the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is. People have been talking about this for a long time.
