Many people find it frustrating to deal with stubborn facial fat that seems resistant to traditional weight loss methods. While it’s a common belief that “spot reduction” isn’t possible, a woman named Anushka Vyas has shared her successful journey of naturally slimming her face through a combination of simple yet effective diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes. In an Instagram post on July 30, she detailed the routine that helped her achieve a more sculpted and defined facial structure.
Here are the key changes she made:
1. Quit Mouth Breathing: Anushka highlights the importance of breathing through the nose. She explains that subconscious mouth breathing keeps the tongue at the bottom of the mouth instead of resting on the roof, which can put constant pressure on the jaw. This habit can create a wider facial appearance and alter one’s natural facial anatomy.
2. Dietary Tweaks:
- Non-Vegetarian Foods: She recommends lean, grilled meats like chicken breast (250-300 grams for satiety), eggs (preferably whites), and fatty fish like salmon or tuna. These fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can improve skin elasticity and health. She advises against meats in curries due to their high sodium and oil content.
- Vegetarian Foods: For a vegetarian diet, she suggests replacing refined flour (maida) and regular wheat with healthier grains such as quinoa, buckwheat, jowar, and millets.
- Cut Dairy and Sugar: Anushka made a significant change by completely cutting out dairy and avoiding all artificial sugars for a period of at least three months.
- High-Fiber & Lean Proteins: Her diet was rich in high-fiber foods like spinach, kale, beetroot, berries, and apples, which help a person feel fuller for longer and prevent unnecessary snacking. She also included lean proteins like low-fat paneer, tofu, moong dal, seitan, and boiled chickpeas. Salads with light, healthy dressings were a staple.
3. Harder-to-Chew Foods: A unique aspect of her routine was incorporating foods that are harder to chew and take longer to eat.
This included raw vegetables like cucumber, carrots, and celery, as well as corn on the cob and nuts like almonds, pistachios, and walnuts. She also noted that sugar-free chewing gum, used in moderation, can be helpful.
4. The “Superfood” Detox Juice: She shared a recipe for a detox juice, which she considered a “superfood” to be added to an already consistent diet.
The recipe includes one slice of petha (winter squash), 1 tsp of turmeric, the juice of half a cucumber, and one twig of meetha neem (curry leaves). It’s important to note that this juice is a supplement to, not a replacement for, a clean diet and regular exercise.
5. Exercise Routine: Her exercise regimen included a combination of moderate cardio and occasional weight or resistance training, which she combined with these dietary and lifestyle adjustments to achieve a slimmer, more defined look.
