Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 6: Mumbai Police are investigating an incident that occurred at Galaxy Theatre in Bandra during the screening of the highly anticipated film, Pushpa 2: The Rule.
According to audience members, the screening was interrupted for around 15-20 minutes after the interval when an unidentified person reportedly sprayed a substance in the theater, causing coughing, throat irritation, and vomiting among moviegoers.
Deen Dayal, a theatergoer, described his experience: “We went out during the interval, and when we returned, it seemed someone had sprayed something that triggered coughing. The show was paused for about 10 minutes, and the police are now here checking everyone.”
Another viewer, Ramzan, shared: “As soon as we returned after the interval, we started coughing, and we even vomited in the bathroom. The smell lingered for 10-15 minutes, and it faded after the doors were opened. The movie resumed afterward, but the police are conducting an investigation.”
In a separate incident on December 4, a large crowd gathered outside Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad ahead of the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The police had to resort to a mild lathi charge to control the crowd, leading to a tragic stampede. A woman died, and a child was injured.
Dy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad, stated, “A case has been registered under Section 105, 118(1) r/w 3(5) BNS Act at Chikkadpally Police Station based on the complaint from the deceased’s family. The investigation is ongoing, and strict action will be taken against those responsible for the chaotic situation inside the theatre that led to the death and injury.”
