Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), December 5: In a bid to ensure public safety and comply with Supreme Court directives on loudspeaker use, senior officials of the Lucknow Police, led by Commissioner Amrendra Singh Sengar, carried out surprise inspections across the city on Thursday.
The initiative aimed to curb noise pollution and enhance safety, particularly for morning walkers, including women and elderly residents. The inspections involved senior officers such as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Additional DCP, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), who conducted patrols during the early morning hours.
DCP Central Raveena Tyaagi stated, “Today, all officials from the Lucknow Police Commissionerate inspected areas frequented by morning walkers to ensure adherence to the Supreme Court’s guidelines on loudspeakers. We also launched an awareness campaign addressing the dangers of high-speed biking. We engaged with morning walkers to better understand their concerns and reaffirm our commitment to improving public facilities.”
During the inspections, officers enforced strict rules on loudspeaker use and launched awareness campaigns to curb high-speed biking, a growing traffic safety concern. Officials emphasized that addressing reckless driving and maintaining noise control remain top priorities for the police department.
Residents, particularly those who frequent public spaces early in the day, have expressed positive feedback regarding the proactive approach taken by the Lucknow Police.
As per the Supreme Court’s ruling, music systems and loudspeakers are prohibited in public areas between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., with permissible noise levels limited to 10 dB(A) above the local ambient noise guidelines.
