Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 3 : Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey sparked confusion on Monday with a cryptic post hinting at a break from acting, leading many to believe he was announcing his retirement.
However, in a statement released on Tuesday, Vikrant clarified that his post had been misinterpreted. He emphasized that he was not quitting acting but rather taking a temporary hiatus due to physical and mental health concerns.
“Acting is all I can do. It has given me everything I have. But my physical and mental health have taken a hit. I just want to take some time off to better my craft and focus on my family and health,” Vikrant explained. “I feel a sense of monotony right now. My post was misinterpreted to suggest I am quitting acting. I’ll be back when the time feels right.”
In his earlier post, Vikrant had expressed gratitude for the immense love and support from his fans. He also mentioned that it was time to “recalibrate” and spend time with his family, while continuing his work as an actor. “The last few years have been phenomenal, and I thank each and every one of you for your support. But it’s time to recalibrate and go back home—as a husband, father, son, and actor. So, in 2025, we will meet again. Until then, thank you for everything,” he had written.
Following his announcement, Vikrant attended a special screening of his film The Sabarmati Report at Parliament, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other MPs, was present. The actor shared his joy about watching the film with the Prime Minister, calling it the “highest point of my career.”
The Sabarmati Report, which portrays the tragic 2002 Godhra train burning incident, has garnered significant attention. The film has been praised by several political figures, including PM Modi, who lauded it for revealing the truth behind the incident. Several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, have declared the film tax-free.
Vikrant’s performance in the film has received recognition, with political leaders like Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini praising the film for its sensitive handling of the subject. The film, directed by Dheeraj Sarna, also features Ridhi Dogra and Raashii Khanna, and is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Vikir Films Production.
