Jerusalem [Israel]: Israeli leaders have condemned Hezbollah’s missile attack on Mount Dov, calling it a serious breach of the ongoing ceasefire.
Israeli Prime Minister’s Warning
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu labeled Hezbollah’s actions as a “serious violation” of the ceasefire agreement and vowed a robust response.
“Hezbollah’s firing at Mount Dov constitutes a serious violation of the ceasefire, and Israel will respond strongly to this. We are determined to continue to enforce the ceasefire, and to respond to any violation by Hezbollah – minor or serious,” Netanyahu stated.
Defense Minister’s Pledge of Retaliation
Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, warning of a harsh response to the attack.
“We promised to act against any violation of the ceasefire by Hezbollah – and that is exactly what we will do. Hezbollah’s firing at the IDF post in Mount Dov will be met with a harsh response. What was will not be,” Katz declared.
Hezbollah Attack and Ceasefire Status
The attack occurred on Monday when Hezbollah fired two missiles toward Mount Dov, near the Israel-Lebanon border. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the missiles landed in open areas and caused no casualties.
This marks the first major incident since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was established. Despite this, the Pentagon issued a statement acknowledging the continuation of the ceasefire, albeit with incidents like this one.
“The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is being held despite several incidents,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
Israel has reiterated its commitment to enforcing the ceasefire and ensuring its sovereignty in the face of violations.
