Iran Strikes US Airbase In Saudi Arabia

The conflict in the Middle East has seen a massive escalation today, Sunday, March 15, 2026, as the regional war enters its 16th day. Following the joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran that began on February 28, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched its largest retaliatory wave yet, codenamed Operation True Promise 4.

Major Strikes on US Airbases

  • Saudi Arabia: The IRGC confirmed its 51st wave of missile strikes targeted the Al Kharj Air Base. Iranian state media reported the use of liquid and solid-fuel missiles, claiming the base is a primary hub for American F-35s and AWACS surveillance planes.
  • Kuwait & UAE: Drones and missiles also targeted the Ali Al Salem Air Base (Kuwait) and Al Dhafra Air Base (UAE). Early reports indicate injuries to local personnel and damage to military infrastructure.
  • Refueling Fleet Hit: Recent reports confirm that at least five US Air Force refueling planes were damaged on the ground at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia during earlier strikes.

Israel: Sirens and Blasts in Central Regions

  • Tel Aviv Under Fire: Air raid sirens blared across central Israel early Sunday morning as Iran launched a fresh barrage of ballistic missiles.
  • Impact & Injuries: Loud explosions were reported in Tel Aviv, Holon, and Bat Yam. While the Iron Dome intercepted several projectiles, debris caused significant property damage. The Magen David Adom (MDA) treated at least four people for injuries sustained while rushing to shelters.
  • Hezbollah Clashes: In the north, Hezbollah reported “direct clashes” with Israeli forces in the Lebanese border town of Khiam, using rocket-propelled projectiles and medium-range weaponry.

Humanitarian Toll and Civilian Impact

  • Casualties in Iran: Human Rights Activists Iran (HRANA) reports that as of March 14, cumulative fatalities in Iran have surpassed 2,500, including at least 1,300 civilians (with over 200 children).
  • Mass Displacement: The UN reports that over 3.2 million people have been displaced within Iran as they flee major cities for rural areas.
  • Regional Disruptions: For the first time, major international events have been affected. Formula 1 officially cancelled the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix scheduled for April due to safety concerns.
