Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 2: Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya shared his thoughts on the team’s selections from the recently concluded IPL 2025 mega-auction, stating that they have successfully found the “right mix” of players.
In a video posted on MI’s official social media, Pandya highlighted the challenges of the auction process, explaining that the dynamics can be tricky as a franchise works to build a balanced team. He added that emotions run high during the live auction, as the team competes to acquire the players they desire, but it is important not to get overly emotional.
“The auction dynamics are always tricky. Watching it live is exciting, and emotions are up and down because you want a player, but sometimes you just miss out. It’s important not to get too emotional, as in the end, we are building a complete team,” Pandya shared in the MI media team’s release.
Pandya, who was closely involved in the team selection process with the coaching staff, felt confident that MI had secured the perfect balance of youth and experience.
“I was in touch with the team about who we were targeting, and I think we did really well. We have the right mix of experienced players like Trent Boult, who is back, and Deepak Chahar, alongside fresh talent like Will Jacks, Robin Minz, and Ryan Rickelton. We’ve covered all bases,” he added.
Having started his own journey with Mumbai Indians as a young talent, Pandya offered a personal message to the new players joining the squad, encouraging them to work hard and take advantage of the facilities the franchise provides to help them grow.
“My message to the young talent joining this year is that if you’re here, it means you have the spark and the talent that the scouts saw. They found me, they found Jasprit, Krunal, Tilak, and they all went on to play for the country. All you have to do is show up, train, and work hard. Mumbai Indians has the resources to help you flourish,” he said.
As a captain, Pandya also emphasized the importance of making new players feel welcome, saying, “There will be new faces from different franchises, and as Mumbai Indians, we’ll make sure they feel at home and know they belong here.”
