US-Iran-Israel War Escalates; Indian Seafarer Killed in Strait of Hormuz Attack

Tensions in the Middle East intensified as the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran entered its fifth day. The military operations — Epic Fury and Roaring Lion — have triggered continuous airstrikes, retaliatory attacks and fears of a wider regional war.

Mumbai Seafarer Killed in Tanker Missile Strike

A 33-year-old seafarer from Mumbai, Dixit Amritlal Solanki, was killed after a missile struck the tanker MT MKD Vyom in the Strait of Hormuz on March 1.

Solanki, a resident of Kandivali, was working as an oiler on the vessel and had been on board for nearly 80 days. The tanker was travelling from Europe to Ras Tanura in Saudi Arabia when the attack occurred in the highly sensitive maritime corridor.

Iran Condemns US Strike on Naval Frigate

Iran sharply criticised the United States after a strike on the Iranian naval frigate Dena in international waters near India. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi called the attack an “atrocity” and warned that Washington would face serious consequences.

Funeral Preparations for Supreme Leader

Meanwhile, preparations are underway in Tehran for the funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in a joint US-Israel strike earlier this week. The body is expected to lie in state at the Grand Mosalla complex as thousands of mourners gather for a three-day farewell ceremony.

Iran has also warned that it could target Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility if attempts are made to overthrow the Islamic Republic. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz earlier warned that any new Iranian leadership hostile to Israel could become a target.

US Tests Nuclear-Capable Missile

Amid the escalating conflict, the United States conducted a test launch of its Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The missile travelled thousands of kilometres and struck its designated target zone near the Marshall Islands in the Pacific.

Explosions Rock Iranian Naval Base

Large explosions were also reported near Bandar Abbas, close to the IRGC’s naval facilities at Bandar-e Bahonar. The base oversees operations around the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.

The developments indicate the conflict could escalate further, raising concerns about maritime security, global energy supplies and stability across the Middle East.
