The United States Department of State has ordered the evacuation of non-essential personnel and suspended operations at several diplomatic missions across the Middle East, as the escalating conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran enters its fourth day.
On Tuesday, Washington directed non-emergency government staff and their families to leave Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, and Kuwait, citing heightened security threats across the region.

United States Embassy Beirut
Closed on March 3 amid ongoing Israeli bombardment in Lebanon.
United States Embassy Islamabad
Cancelled all visa appointments through March 6 due to the prevailing security situation. Consulates in Lahore and Karachi have also suspended services.
United States Embassy in Israel
Stated it is not currently in a position to evacuate or directly assist Americans leaving Israel. While Israel’s tourism ministry is operating shuttle services to the Taba border crossing, the embassy warned it cannot guarantee safety.
United States Mission to Saudi Arabia
Closed on March 3. Shelter-in-place advisories remain active for Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dhahran after an attack on the facility.
United States Embassy Kuwait
Closed until further notice following reported Iranian attacks near the mission.
United States Embassy Bahrain
Closed on March 3, cancelling all consular appointments due to regional tensions.
United States Embassy Amman
Personnel temporarily evacuated from the compound following a reported threat.
Rising Casualties Across West Asia
The conflict has caused significant casualties across multiple countries:
- Iran: Nearly 800 reported dead, including approximately 180 in Minab following a strike on a girls’ school, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.
- United States: Four American service members killed and four seriously injured.
- Lebanon: 52 killed and 154 injured in Israeli strikes in the south.
- UAE: Three killed and 58 injured in reported Iranian attacks in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
- Israel: Around 10 fatalities due to Iranian strikes.
- Iraq: Two deaths reported.
- Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain: One fatality each.
- Qatar: At least 16 injured.
