Actress Meerra Chopraa has taken to social media to recount what she described as a “massively scary” experience with Uber India during an early morning cab booking. The actress alleged that despite exiting the ride within 20 minutes due to safety concerns, she was billed for the full six-hour booking.
‘Driver Was Almost Sleeping’
Sharing her ordeal on X (formerly Twitter), Meerra stated that she had booked a cab for six hours early in the morning. However, when the vehicle arrived, she found it to be dusty and foul-smelling.
According to her, the situation became alarming when she noticed that the driver appeared drowsy and was “almost sleeping while driving.” She claimed the driver was barely able to respond when she questioned him about the condition of the car, raising immediate safety concerns.
Charged Full Amount Despite Early Drop-Off
Meerra revealed that she decided to step out of the cab within 20 minutes and booked another ride. However, she alleged that Uber charged her for the entire six-hour duration of the booking.
Expressing her frustration, the actress criticised the company’s response and wrote that safety standards in India’s public transport system are “deeply compromised.” She termed the company’s handling of the situation as “disgusting.”
