Former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has made startling claims in a recent interview, asserting that he killed a man in what he described as “self-defense” or revenge for the shooting of a friend.
Speaking to anchor Chitra Tripathi, Singh recounted:
“A friend of mine was shot. As soon as he turned towards me with his gun, I shot him back. You can call it self-defense or revenge, but I have killed one man.”
When asked if he had served any punishment or felt regret, Singh was unequivocal:
“Koi pachtaava nahi. Aapko koi maarde, toh main usko na maaru? (I have no regrets. If someone hits you, should I not hit back?)”
Context:
- Singh served as WFI president from 2011 to 2023, a period marked by international wrestling success for India.
- His tenure ended amid allegations of sexual harassment by multiple women wrestlers, sparking nationwide protests and scrutiny of sports governance in India.
- Beyond wrestling, Singh is a long-time political figure, having been re-elected multiple times as a BJP MP.
This revelation comes amid ongoing public scrutiny of Singh, reigniting debates around accountability and governance in Indian sports administration.
