Actor Abhishek Bachchan has heaped praise on Ranveer Singh’s film Dhurandhar, claiming it has the potential to outshine any global show or movie. Speaking at the ET NOW Global Business Summit 2026, the actor highlighted the sheer scale of Indian cinema and questioned comparisons with global entertainment trends like Korean dramas.
Abhishek Bachchan on ‘Dhurandhar’ and Indian Cinema’s Scale
Abhishek Bachchan asserted that the Indian film industry is the largest in the world, arguing that its audience size and ticket sales far exceed global competitors.
“Our numbers are just so large that I think it’s erroneous for us to say, ‘Oh, when are we gonna create our Squid Game? We make Dhurandhar. Look at the numbers. Look at the amount of tickets sold. That’s gonna outshine any other show, any other movie. So it’s a matter of numbers,” he said.
Questions Over Korean Entertainment Viewership
While acknowledging the quality of Korean films and series, Abhishek questioned their reach compared to India’s massive domestic audience.
“They do amazing work, but what is their viewership? What are those numbers? They’ll pale in comparison to Indians going to movies. We already have the numbers, so what kind of numbers are you trying to achieve to become that fad? I don’t think we want to be a fad,” he added.
About ‘Dhurandhar’ and Its Sequel Plans
Dhurandhar, which hit theatres on December 5, is directed by Aditya Dhar and features a stellar ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Rakesh Bedi. The film is produced by B62 Studios in collaboration with Jio Studios.

A sequel is reportedly in development.
