Rajpal Yadav Gets Bollywood Support After Tihar Jail Surrender In Cheque Bounce Case

New Delhi:
Actor Rajpal Yadav’s wife, Radha Yadav, on Wednesday said that several members of the film industry have come forward to support the veteran comedian after he surrendered before Tihar Jail authorities in connection with multiple cheque bounce cases.

Rajpal Yadav was sent to Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking additional time to repay the outstanding dues, which amount to nearly Rs 9 crore. The court directed that he be taken into custody after failing to meet repayment deadlines.

Bollywood Extends Financial and Emotional Support

Speaking about the support the family has received, Radha Yadav expressed gratitude to colleagues and well-wishers from the film fraternity.

“Everybody has stood by him. The industry has been supportive. A big thank you to everyone who is coming forward to help,” she told PTI.

Goldie Jain, Yadav’s manager of 25 years, revealed that several leading actors, directors, and producers had offered assistance. Media reports also claimed that Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan, and filmmaker David Dhawan had offered financial support to the actor.

“People have taken the initiative to help. They have all promised support, and it is not only financial. It is true that Salman, Ajay, Varun and David Dhawan have called. In what capacity and how they will help is yet to be known. They are all well-wishers of Rajpal bhai,” Jain said.

He added that the bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday and that a press conference would be held if the outcome is favourable.

Background of the Cheque Bounce Case

In 2010, Rajpal Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd for his directorial venture Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed at the box office, and Yadav was unable to repay the loan, leading to multiple cheque bounce cases.

Before surrendering, the actor told Bollywood Hungama that he did not have the financial means to repay the amount and stated that, in the film industry, “everyone is on their own.”

Delhi High Court Order and Legal Details

In its recent judgement, the Delhi High Court noted that Yadav was required to pay Rs 1.35 crore in each of the seven cases filed against him. The court also directed that the amount already deposited with the Registrar General be released in favour of the complainant.

Industry Support Continues

Actor Sonu Sood was among the first to publicly offer support, announcing that he was signing Rajpal Yadav for a film and providing the signing amount as an advance.

Rajpal Yadav, a graduate of the National School of Drama (NSD), is widely known for his roles in popular Bollywood comedies and has been a staple of Hindi cinema for decades.
