Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade has been named in a fresh First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Bhogaon police in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The case involves an alleged high-return investment fraud that has reportedly duped local residents of lakhs of rupees.
The police action follows a direct order from a local court, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations involving the actor and 11 other individuals.
Details of the Bhogaon Fraud Case
The complaint was lodged by a resident of Mohalla Mishrana in Bhogaon. According to the FIR:
- The Operation: The accused allegedly operated through a purported branch of a Mumbai-based bank located right within the Mohalla Mishrana locality.
- The Pitch: Villagers were persuaded to invest significant sums of money with the promise of “substantial and guaranteed” financial returns.
- The Fallout: Investors realized they had been cheated when the promised profits failed to materialize and their principal amounts were not returned.
The police have now launched a formal probe to trace the flow of funds and verify the authenticity of the “Mumbai bank branch” mentioned in the complaint.
A Pattern of Legal Troubles
This is not the first time Shreyas Talpade has been linked to such schemes. Over the past year, he has faced multiple FIRs across North India:
- Brand Ambassador Role: Talpade, along with veteran actor Alok Nath, has been named in similar cases in Baghpat (UP), Sonipat (Haryana), and Uttarakhand. These cases are primarily linked to the Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society.
- Supreme Court Intervention: In December 2025, the Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to both Talpade and Alok Nath. Their legal counsel argued that the actors were merely “guest celebrities” or brand ambassadors and had no involvement in the company’s day-to-day management or financial misappropriation.
- Scale of Fraud: Previous reports suggest these societies may have defrauded over 500 investors of more than ₹5 crore.
