Khordha (Odisha) [India]: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval participated in the opening of the three-day DGP/IGP Conference in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The conference, held from November 29 to December 1, focuses on critical aspects of national security, including counter-terrorism, coastal security, left-wing extremism, narcotics, and reforms in criminal law.

The event serves as a platform for senior police professionals and security administrators to deliberate on diverse issues affecting national security and law enforcement. According to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), discussions will include:

  • Strategies to combat terrorism and left-wing extremism.
  • Enhancing coastal and border security.
  • Tackling drug trafficking and narcotics.
  • Implementation of new criminal laws.

Prime Minister’s Participation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the conference on November 30 and December 1. Known for his keen interest in policing and security matters, PM Modi encourages open and informal discussions to foster innovation in national security strategies.

The PMO noted:
