India’s dominant victory in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has set the stage for an exciting second Test, which will be played under the lights in Adelaide as a Pink Ball Day-Night match. Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara shared his insights with Star Sports, discussing the unique challenges posed by the pink ball and what to expect from the upcoming match.
Pujara highlighted the adjustments needed to face the pink ball, stating, “With the Pink Ball, you need more reaction time. You have to quicken your footwork because the ball skids and comes faster. This leaves you with less time than with the Red Ball, so you’ll need to make some adjustments.”
He also acknowledged Australia’s strong record with the pink ball, pointing out that they have never lost a match with it. “Australia’s record with the Pink Ball is impressive. They haven’t lost a single match so far, and I think they’ll be eager to make a comeback in the series,” Pujara said.
Despite Australia’s formidable record, Pujara expressed confidence in India’s performance. Reflecting on their victory in the first Test, he said, “The way we played in the first Test was exceptional. I believe this will be a closely contested and very exciting match.”
The second Test, scheduled from December 6 to 10 at the Adelaide Oval, will feature the day-night format, offering a thrilling atmosphere for fans. Following this, the third Test will be held at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to 18.
The iconic Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will take place from December 26 to 30, and the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground is set for January 3 to 7, wrapping up the series with an exhilarating finale.
