Delhi Chief Minister Atishi launched a scathing critique of the BJP-led central government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital. She compared Delhi’s current scenario to Mumbai in the 1990s, an era often depicted in popular media as under the control of the underworld.
“Delhi has become like 90s Mumbai, a time when it was dominated by the underworld, as we saw in TV shows and films,” Atishi remarked, following a blast reported in the city’s Prashant Vihar area.
Sharp Remarks Against Amit Shah
Atishi suggested that Home Minister Amit Shah should prioritize Delhi’s safety over election campaigning, alleging that extortion calls are being made from areas near his residence.
She stated, “The BJP and Amit Shah ji have one primary responsibility. Today, extortion calls and gunfire incidents are happening within a 5-10 km radius of the Home Minister’s residence. Now, there are bomb blasts as well. Businesspeople are receiving extortion calls, and young lives are being lost. I urge the BJP and the Home Minister to prioritize the safety of Delhi’s residents once election campaigning concludes.”
Prashant Vihar Blast Sparks Outrage
Referring to the blast in Prashant Vihar, Atishi accused the BJP and Amit Shah of failing to maintain law and order in the city.
“A blast occurred near a school, just two streets away from the Prashant Vihar site. Such incidents are reported daily. The BJP and Union Home Minister are accountable for these lapses. In Delhi, the Centre has only one responsibility: law and order,” she added.
