A blast in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar on Thursday left one person with minor injuries, as confirmed by the Delhi Police. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion.
Speaking to media, Delhi Police PRO and Additional Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Tyagi stated:
“One person sustained minor injuries. Police teams and other specialised staff—special cell, forensics, and other units—are at the spot. The cause of the explosion is being ascertained… As of now, there is no suspect… The person with minor injuries was discharged after treatment.”
Police and Forensics at Work
The National Security Guards (NSG) Bomb Disposal Unit has been deployed at the scene. Delhi Police has reportedly seized over 10 DVRs from the vicinity and is examining CCTV footage.
Sources revealed that the suspect may have used a garbage area to place the explosives. While no definitive materials have been recovered, traces of white powder residue were found at the site.
“Chemical quantity used this time was less competitive to last month’s incident,” sources added.
Previous Incident Connection
The incident follows a blast last month in the same area, outside a CRPF school. In that case, an explosive device wrapped in polythene was buried under garbage, causing property damage but no injuries. An FIR was registered under multiple sections, including the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Indian Explosives Act.
Authorities are investigating any links between the two incidents while prioritizing public safety.
