Hemant Soren’s son Nitil Soren expressed his joy over his father’s re-election as Chief Minister of Jharkhand, emphasizing the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) commitment to serving tribals and the state.
“I am very happy for my father… Everyone has come to witness this. To the tribals, I would like to say that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is working for you, working for the entire Jharkhand,” said Nitil Soren.
Prominent leaders from the INDIA alliance arrived in Ranchi to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and former Deputy CM of Bihar, expressed confidence in Soren’s leadership, saying:
“Under the leadership of Hemant Soren, we will run the government and will take Jharkhand forward…”
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also arrived, praising the voters for their decision:
“I thank people for giving another opportunity to Hemant Soren and the INDIA alliance. Jharkhand’s result has given a positive result for the country.”
Historic Victory for JMM-Led INDIA Bloc
Hemant Soren, set to be sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand, leads the first government in the state to return to power after completing a full five-year term.
The JMM steered the INDIA bloc to a resounding victory in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly, winning 56 seats:
- JMM: 34
- Congress: 16
- RJD: 4
- CPI-ML: 2
The BJP-led NDA secured 24 seats, with BJP winning 21 and its allies, AJSU Party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and JD(U), winning one seat each. The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha also won one seat.
High-Profile Attendance at Ceremony
Senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and KC Venugopal, along with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, are among those attending the ceremony. Kejriwal earlier called Hemant Soren’s win “very inspiring.”
The JMM-led alliance has pledged to prioritize tribal welfare, development, and progress in the state, showcasing a unified opposition under the INDIA alliance.
