Panaji (Goa) [India]: Renowned music composer AR Rahman took on the role of producer for the documentary “Headhunting to Beatboxing”, which explores the evolution of music in Nagaland. Rahman attended a special screening of the film at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Sharing his thoughts on the project, Rahman said, “Headhunting to Beatboxing is a very inspirational tale. I visited and observed what was happening… The evolution was so inspirational that I felt it was a story that could inspire many. Most people don’t even know about this new Nagaland.”
The documentary was previously screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) in August, where Rahman expressed his excitement, stating, “The film is very special to us as it sheds light on the beautiful state of Nagaland and highlights its rich cultural and musical history.”
The film traces Nagaland’s musical journey, starting with the traditional rhythms of the headhunting tribes and culminating in a vibrant musical renaissance, showcasing the state’s dynamic cultural and musical evolution across generations.
