Panaji (Goa) [India]: Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai and renowned playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy expressed their joy at the screening of the iconic musical romantic drama “Taal” at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Speaking to the media, Ghai remarked, “It is a moment of happiness for all the artists, technicians, and the entire team that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has included our film in the festival so that national and international delegates can witness our iconic musical film.”
Krishnamurthy, who has collaborated with Ghai on numerous projects, shared her gratitude for working with the filmmaker, saying, “I have been associated with Subhash ji since Meri Jung. I feel fortunate that he gave me a beautiful song in Karma. I am very grateful to have sung ‘Ishq Bina.’ Singing for him is always a pleasure… I also contributed to Pardes. AR Rahman beautifully presented folk music in this film.”
Taal, which remains a beloved classic, is being re-released in theaters this year to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Fans will have the chance to revisit this iconic film starting September 27.
The 1999 film, which starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshaye Khanna, and Anil Kapoor, is renowned for its unforgettable music and stellar performances. The film also featured Amrish Puri, Alok Nath, Mita Vashisth, and Saurabh Shukla, contributing to its success.
At IFFI 2024, which began on November 20, over 180 international films from 81 countries are being showcased, including 16 world premieres, 3 international premieres, 43 Asian premieres, and 109 Indian premieres. The festival is also honoring the 100th birth anniversaries of Raj Kapoor, Tapan Sinha, Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), and Mohammed Rafi with a special tribute program.
The 55th edition of IFFI will conclude on November 28.
