What Is “Food Noise”? Woman Who Lost 70 Kg Explains Mental Battle And How She Found Relief

Many people silently struggle with nonstop thoughts about food — when to eat, what to eat, or whether to eat at all. For Kate Daniel, who lost more than 70 kg, this wasn’t just a habit but a lifelong mental battle she calls “food noise.” In her Instagram post on January 6, Kate spoke openly about how overpowering this mental burden once was — and how she eventually found relief.

What Is “Food Noise” And How Does It Affect Daily Life?

“Trying to explain food noise to someone who has never experienced it is near damn impossible,” Kate shared.

She described it as living with constant arguments inside her mind — like wearing headphones while two voices endlessly debate food choices without pause.

“Imagine two people arguing constantly about what to eat, when to eat, don’t eat, do eat… and this happens all day. There’s no space left for the other things you need to think about,” she explained.

This relentless back-and-forth, Kate said, becomes mentally exhausting, emotionally draining, and deeply distracting. It can take over daily life, leaving little room for clarity, peace or focus.

“It’s this constant distraction and such a strong pull,” she added, describing how overwhelming it felt.

How Kate Reduced “Food Noise” And Took Back Control

Kate emphasizes that change is possible — but it isn’t about extreme dieting or punishing willpower.

“I have reduced the food noise by 99.99%. It is possible,” she said confidently.
However, she clarified:

  • It’s not about eliminating food groups
  • It’s not about simply having more willpower
  • It’s not about constantly saying no

“It is a little bit deeper than that,” Kate explained, hinting at the emotional and psychological work involved.

The transformation has been life-changing.

“The relief I feel now… I’d do the work 10 times over every year just to feel this clarity. It is the most freeing feeling I’ve ever experienced.”

Today, Kate says she can finally think clearly, focus on her day, and live without food dominating her thoughts.

A Message Of Hope

Kate ended her message with reassurance for anyone struggling:

“If you are struggling with food noise, just know it does not have to continue that way. You can change it.”

Her story highlights an important truth — overcoming struggles with food isn’t about harsh self-discipline, guilt, or restriction. It is about understanding the mental patterns behind eating, healing your relationship with food, and taking thoughtful steps toward emotional and physical well-being.
