UP Draft Electoral Roll Sees 2.89 Crore Voters Deleted After SIR

The Election Commission of India (ECI) released the draft electoral roll of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), resulting in the deletion of approximately 2.89 crore voters from the list.

Prior to the revision, the state’s electoral roll had 15.44 crore registered voters. After the SIR, the total number of voters stands at 12.55 crore, Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa confirmed.

The deletions included names of deceased voters, accounting for around 46.23 lakh (2.99%), voters who had shifted residences totaling 2.17 crore (14.06%), and duplicate entries amounting to 25.46 lakh (1.65%). The SIR process is part of the Election Commission’s routine effort to ensure the accuracy and integrity of electoral rolls.
