An Indian-origin man died after allegedly waiting for over eight hours in the emergency room of a hospital in Edmonton, Canada, despite repeatedly complaining of severe chest pain.
The incident occurred at Grey Nuns Community Hospital, where 44-year-old Prashant Sreekumar, an accountant and father of three, was taken after experiencing sharp chest pain at work. According to reports, a client rushed him to the hospital, where he was triaged and asked to wait in the emergency area.
As per a Global News report, Sreekumar’s condition worsened over the next several hours. His family claims that despite his blood pressure reportedly rising to 210 and his repeated complaints of unbearable pain, he was only given Tylenol. Hours later, he collapsed in the treatment area and died.
A video circulating on social media shows Sreekumar’s wife recounting the ordeal, questioning the hospital’s response and alleging serious lapses in emergency care. The incident has sparked outrage online and renewed concerns over emergency room wait times and patient care in Canada.
