Pop superstar Miley Cyrus has confirmed her engagement to long-time partner, musician Maxx Morando, four years after they first sparked dating rumours. The announcement followed the couple’s appearance at the world premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Monday, where the singer proudly showed off a stunning, bespoke diamond ring.
Cyrus’s representatives officially confirmed the news, putting to rest months of speculation that began after the three-time Grammy winner was first spotted wearing the eye-catching sparkler in mid-November.
The Ring: Bespoke Gold and Cushion-Cut Bling
The engagement ring itself has become a major talking point. According to reports, the bespoke piece was custom-made by celebrity jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche.
The design features a substantial cushion-cut diamond—estimated to be between 4 and 5 carats—set horizontally (east-west) on a thick 14-Karat yellow gold band. Jewellery experts estimate the ring’s value could range from $150,000 to as high as $450,000, depending on the quality and origin of the stone. The chunky, minimalist gold setting is considered a major trend in modern bridal jewellery.
A Private Relationship Blooms
Cyrus, 33, and Morando, 27, the drummer for the rock band Liily, first sparked dating rumours in December 2021 after being photographed together backstage at her NBC holiday special. Cyrus later revealed in a 2023 British Vogue interview that they met on a blind date, adding, “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him.”
The singer emphasized how much she cherishes the privacy they have managed to maintain throughout their relationship.
“The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I’ve been astounded that I’ve actually been able to have and be able to kind of have more choice,” Cyrus explained.
She connected her current life chapter, including her relationship with Morando, to the themes of Avatar: Fire and Ash, describing the film as being “about love, family resilience and kind of reconnection and that stronger together idea.”
