The Mumbai Police has summoned popular social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, widely known as Orry, in connection with a massive ₹252-crore drugs case, news agency reported on Wednesday citing police officials. Orry has been directed to appear before the Anti-Narcotics Cell’s Ghatkopar unit for questioning.
According to the report, Orry has been asked to present himself for interrogation at 10 am on Thursday.
Case Linked to Massive 2024 Drug Seizure
The summons are reportedly linked to a major drug seizure that took place in March 2024, as per the Hindustan Times. In that operation, the Mumbai Police had seized 126.14 kg of mephedrone (MD)—a synthetic stimulant—valued at around ₹252 crore.
The seizure, conducted in Sangli district, was one of the biggest drug-related recoveries made that year. Investigators are now probing the network involved in the trafficking and distribution of the contraband, and Orry’s name appeared during the course of the inquiry, prompting the latest summons.
Orry: A Prominent Influencer in Bollywood Circles
Orry is a well-known socialite and influencer, often seen in the company of major Bollywood actors and featured prominently in entertainment media. His vibrant presence at celebrity gatherings, award functions, and private events has made him a recognizable face on social media.
Previous Controversy in Jammu & Kashmir
Earlier this year, in March 2024, Orry and seven others were booked in Katra, the base camp for the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. According to reports by PTI, they were accused of consuming alcohol at a local hotel, an act that triggered political reactions in the region.
Leaders from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) demanded strict action against him at the time, calling the incident inappropriate given the religious sensitivity of the location.
As the investigation progresses, Orry’s questioning by the Anti-Narcotics Cell is expected to shed more light on whether he has any direct or indirect links to the drug network under scrutiny.
