Family First: BCCI To Fly Shreyas Iyer’s Sister To Sydney As Star Leaves ICU

Shreyas Iyer, an Indian hitter, hurt his spleen and rib cage badly while fielding in the last One-Day International (ODI) against Australia last week. He is making great progress in his recuperation. The cricketer’s health is currently stable, and on Tuesday he reached a big milestone when he was moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Sydney hospital where he is being treated.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is apparently making plans for Iyer’s sister, Shresta Iyer, to go to Sydney to make sure he has the personal care he needs while he recovers abroad. The Times of India said on Wednesday that the BCCI wants to send Shresta to Sydney “to join and help Iyer out there soon.”

BCCI Making Sure of the Best Medical Care
Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, said that the board is committed to Iyer’s health and that all available resources are being used to help him get better.Saikia said that Dr. Rizwan Khan, the doctor for the Indian team, stayed in Sydney just to watch over the vice-captain’s treatment.

“The BCCI has done everything it can to support Shreyas. Rizwan, the BCCI’s doctor, is completely focused on Iyer’s care and recovery there. Saikia said, “Shreyas has been put up in the best hospital in Sydney (St. Vincent’s Hospital),” to show how good the care Iyer is getting is.

Suryakumar Yadav Says Things Are Getting Much Better
During a press conference in Canberra, before the five-match series against Australia, India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav gave an encouraging update that added to the good health reports. Suryakumar said that Iyer is now “fine.”

Yadav said that he had checked on the batter, whose health has become a lot better since the day of the incident. Suryakumar’s phone remained unanswered on the first day, so he had to call Kamlesh, the team physio, who said Iyer was stable.

The progress is evident today: “We’ve been talking for two days now.”He has been writing back. If he is answering the phone, it suggests he is okay… He’s OK. He is speaking. Everything is fine. He stated he would be fine for a few more days.

Yadav said that Iyer’s strong recovery is shown by the fact that he is “eating solid food, walking in the Sydney hospital without support, and taking phone calls.”

Mumbai captain and bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur also got in touch with his state and national counterpart. He told the media that he “spoke to Shreyas” and that he “was stable.”
