Kabul: Pakistan carried out strikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika province late Friday, ending a two-day ceasefire, a senior Taliban official told AFP.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said:
“Pakistan has broken the ceasefire and bombed three locations in Paktika. Afghanistan will retaliate.”
The incident threatens to escalate tensions along the border region, which had seen a brief pause in hostilities after days of conflict.
The Taliban have warned of retaliation, signaling that the fragile peace along the border remains precarious.
