BJP MP Dilip Saikia Requests Centre To Form ‘National Population Control Policy’

New Delhi [India]: Bharatiya Janata Party Assam MP Dilip Saikia on Tuesday raised the issue of increasing population in Lok Sabha during Zero Hour.

He requested the government to form a ‘National population control policy’. He said that at present, the fastest population growth in the world is happening in India and it has now become the biggest problem in India. He further added that even in terms of area, India’s population is very large.

The leader supported the formation of a National population control policy with many arguments like illiteracy, better medical facilities, child marriage, social security, superstition etc. “Every year the population of the world increases by eight crores, out of which India’s population alone increased by two crores. 52 children are born every minute in India,” the BJP leader stated.

“Population growth has always been a problem for India and due to this, many problems are arising in the country. The main amongst many are environmental pollution, poverty, unemployment, food, housing, education, and health-related problems. It is very important to make efforts to get rid of these problems and control the population,” he added.

Dilip Saikia requested the Central Government to consider formulating a concrete National Population Control Policy to save the country from a situation like a population explosion stating that we have limited resources and availability of health-related services in the country.
