PITTSBURGH, PA— Pittsburgh police said that three kids were attacked and hurt at Carrick High School on Wednesday morning. The event, which featured a tiny knife, happened at 8:30 a.m. directly inside the front doors of the school at 125 Parkfield St.
Police have arrested a pupil at the school and are questioning him at the North Side police station. He also got a cut on his hand, which doctors took care of.
Injuries and Emergency Response Pittsburgh police spokesperson Cara Cruz said that one of the patients is in serious condition and the other is stable. A third person was given first aid for a “minor laceration” right away and has since been released.
The Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) announced in a statement that a pupil “used a small knife to hurt three other students.” All of the students are getting medical care. The school district also said, “While details are still coming in, we have been told that one student’s injury may be worse.”
Because of the stabbing, the school was put on lockdown, and a lot of police, fire, and emergency medical services workers raced to the area. On Parkfield Street, there was a line of around fifteen police cars from the Pittsburgh Public Schools and the Pittsburgh Police Department. A few students were spotted talking to police officers outside, but the scene stayed calm.
The investigation is still going on, and police are trying to figure out what happened that led to the incident.
