The highly anticipated courtroom drama Jolly LLB 3, which brings together the two main characters from the famous film series, has had a slower start to ticket sales than predicted. The movie, which stars Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, is projected to do well in Hindi-speaking areas because of its legacy and star power. However, the directors are worried about the movie’s first box office numbers.
Sacnilk said that advance tickets for Jolly LLB 3 went on sale on September 15, just four days before it came out this Friday. The movie has only sold about 32,000 tickets in the last two days, which means it made ₹99 lakh in pre-sales on its first day. For a legacy sequel with such a good cast, this is a really low number. There are still fewer than two days till the movie comes out, and its advance bookings haven’t even reached ₹1 crore yet. As the release date approaches near, the producers of the movie will be hoping for a big rise in sales.
But the good thing about the movie is its genre. Jolly LLB 3 is a courtroom drama and comedy that usually does better with word-of-mouth than with a big opening. For example, Jolly LLB 2, which came out in 2017 and starred Akshay Kumar, only garnered a few advance bookings. Still, it made a solid ₹13 crore on its first day. The movie made ₹117 crore at the box office in India and ₹198 crore throughout the world, thanks to great reviews and audience reactions.
In the third movie, Jagdwishwar “Jolly” Mishra (Akshay Kumar) will defend a strong politician in a land-grabbing case, while his adversary, Jagdish “Jolly” Tyagi (Arshad Warsi), will represent the peasants who filed the complaint. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the movie also stars Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, and Amrita Rao, who are all fan favorites. Gajraj Rao and Seema Biswas are two more actors who make the cast even stronger.
On September 19, Jolly LLB 3 will come out in theaters.
