Accused In Delhi BMW Crash Sent To Judicial Custody, Police Probe Suspected Medical Tampering

The lady who was accused of driving the BMW that killed a Finance Ministry official was put in jail for two days on Monday. Delhi Police detained 38-year-old Gagandeep Kaur Makkad for her part in the crash in Dhaula Kuan that killed 52-year-old Navjot Singh and seriously hurt his wife.

On Sunday night, Singh, who was the Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, and his wife were on their way home from the Bangla Sahib Gurdwara when the terrible thing happened. A speeding BMW automobile hit their motorcycle, and Kaur was driving it.

Bail and Judicial Custody

The court in Delhi ordered Makkad to be held in judicial custody for two days. In response, her lawyers have already filed a request for bail. The case has gotten a lot of attention, and lawyers involved say it’s “not just an accident,” which means there will be a more complicated legal battle ahead.

Police Look Into Hospital Link

One of the main things the police are looking into is whether there is a connection between the accused and the hospital where the victims were transported. Media reports that Singh and his wife were taken to Nulife Hospital, which is 19 kilometers from the collision site. This has prompted concerns, especially because media said that a cousin of the accused owns the facility. The victim’s family says there was a cover-up, while the accused and her attorneys say they took the victims to the farthest hospital in a hurry.

Medical Reports Being Checked

Police sources say there is a good chance that medical records were changed, especially those of the accused woman, who was also treated at the same hospital. The victim’s family has made similar claims, saying that there is no formal record of Kaur or her family getting treatment at the facility.

Charges in court

The First Information Report (FIR) against Makkad lists a number of allegations, but murder is not one of them. Instead, she has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, obstruction of evidence, reckless driving, and putting life in danger under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
