NEW DELHI— On Monday night, a brand-new Mahindra Thar fell from the first floor of a showroom in Delhi’s Nirman Vihar, turning a happy event into a terrifying show. The event, which has since gone viral on social media, happened when 29-year-old Maani Pawar, the new owner, accidentally pressed the gas pedal while doing a normal pre-delivery ritual.
Maani Pawar and her husband, Pradeep, had just gotten their ₹27 lakh Thar Roxx from a Mahindra store. Ms. Pawar chose to bless the new car by doing a traditional ceremony that involves driving the wheel over a lemon. A lemon was put in front of one of the wheels on the first floor of the showroom with Vikas, an employee, in the automobile.
Ms. Pawar was supposed to slowly maneuver the automobile ahead to squeeze the lemon. But she made a mistake and hit the gas instead of the brake. The big SUV sped forward, crashing through the showroom’s big glass wall and falling to the ground below.
A video going around online shows the dramatic aftermath: the Thar flipped over on the road, surrounded by broken glass, with the big hole in the showroom on the first level visible in the backdrop.
Even though the accident was upsetting, the car’s airbags saved both Ms. Pawar and Vikas, the employee, right away. They were quickly taken to Malik Hospital in Nirman Vihar. Abhishek Dhania, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), said that both were sent home after getting first attention for their minor injuries.
DCP Dhania said, “We got the medico-legal case (MLC) of Maani Pawar from Malik Hospital in Nirman Vihar on Monday at about 6:08 pm.” When asked, it was discovered that Maani and her husband Pradeep bought a Thar Rox automobile from a Mahindra showroom in Nirman Vihar.
Authorities say that neither individual engaged in the event has filed a formal police report. The car was badly damaged, but the most important thing is that no one was harmed badly in the strange collision.
