BRS Leader KTR Detained During Protest Over Urea Crisis

Today, police detained well-known BRS leaders who were protesting the catastrophic lack of urea that is impacting farmers all throughout Telangana. The protest, in which leaders marched with empty fertilizer bags, was a direct attack on the Congress government, which is in power.

The demonstration began at the State Assembly and finished at the Agriculture Commissioner’s office, where a group led by KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao handed in a petition. People who were protesting said phrases like “Ganapati bappa morya, kavalayya urea” to catch people’s attention on how poorly the farmers were doing.

The BRS leaders alleged that the government led by Revanth Reddy was not doing a good job and that the Central government was not sending them enough of the vital fertilizer. Harish Rao also talked about state workers not getting paid on time during a very important moment when he was being held.

The ongoing urea crisis has turned into a major political issue. The Congress party, which leads the state government, has publicly accused the Center of not delivering Telangana its fair share of urea. The BRS and BJP, on the other hand, have both alleged that the state government is purposely making things scarce and not doing a good job of controlling the supply chain.

Farmers are in a tough situation since they don’t have enough supplies. Different places are reporting that there are long lineups at distribution centers, and farmers have to wait days to get small amounts of urea. Not having enough resources not only puts crops at danger of lower yields, but it also makes the farming community’s money issues worse. The BRS wants to be seen as the main voice of the farmers and hold the current government accountable by organizing this demonstration.
