Mohan Bhagwat: Conversion And Illegal Migration Causing Demographic Imbalance

NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that conversion and illegal migration are the primary reasons for what he termed a “demographic imbalance” in India. Speaking at an event to mark the 100th anniversary of the RSS at Bharat Mandapam, Bhagwat asserted that while the government is actively working to curb illegal immigration, society must also take on its share of the responsibility.

While the RSS chief did not provide specific details on what “society’s role” entails, he has previously made similar comments, urging citizens to be vigilant against illegal migrants and those who aid them. In a 2014 speech, he cited population imbalances in West Bengal and Kerala, attributing them to a “particular community” and warning of a threat to national security and law and order.

Bhagwat’s address was part of a three-day lecture series titled “100 Years of Sangh’s Journey – New Horizons,” which was attended by diplomats from over 55 nations and representatives from various political and social groups. The event was held to showcase the organization’s century-long journey and its vision for India’s future.

In his speech, Bhagwat also touched on several other key issues, including self-reliance, the need for a national character, and the importance of constitutional values. He also warned against what he called “sinister conspiracies” to destabilize the country.
