Ghaziabad: A woman who was feeding stray dogs in Ghaziabad was brutally assaulted by a man in a shocking incident that was captured on video and has since gone viral. The woman, identified as Yashika Shukla, a resident of Ghaziabad, was feeding the dogs near the Brahmaputra Enclave Society in Vijaynagar on Friday night.
According to Shukla, she was at a designated feeding spot when a man, later identified as Kamal Khanna, approached her and began to argue. A video of the confrontation shows the man walking toward Shukla, who is seen backing away. She then asks the person recording the incident to continue filming, to which the man brazenly replies, “Yes, record this.”
In the 40-second video, the man is seen slapping the woman at least eight times. At one point, he claims that Shukla hit him first.

In this video, we can see that a man was assaulting her. But he was also saying she hit him first.

Following the incident, police registered a case and took the man, Kamal Khanna, into custody, as reported by NDTV. The swift action by law enforcement came amid a heightened public debate surrounding the management of stray dogs in urban areas.
The assault occurred just hours after the Supreme Court of India modified its earlier order on stray dogs. The court’s new ruling stated that canines picked up by authorities must be released back into their original locations after being sterilized and immunized, with the exception of those with rabies or displaying aggressive behavior. This modified order replaced a previous, stricter directive that had barred authorities from releasing sterilized dogs back onto the streets, a move that had faced widespread criticism from animal rights activists. The Supreme Court’s new ruling also called for the establishment of designated feeding zones, a provision that directly relates to the incident in Ghaziabad.
