The Union Cabinet has approved Phase-IB of the Lucknow Metro project, which is a big step toward making public transit better in the capital of Uttar Pradesh. On Tuesday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the project will cost ₹5,801 crore and will have a corridor length of 11.165 km. When it is finished, the Metro network in Lucknow will be 34 km long.
The government said in a statement after the Cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the project is a big step forward for the city’s infrastructure. The new corridor will connect the oldest and most crowded parts of the city that don’t have good access right now. There will be 12 stations in all, seven of which will be underground and five of which will be above ground.
One of the main goals of Phase-IB is to connect the city’s modern transit system with the historic and cultural center of Old Lucknow. The new route will link the city’s famous food locations and important tourist attractions like Bara Imambara, Chota Imambara, Bhool Bhulaiya, the Clock Tower, and Rumi Darwaza.
The administration stressed that this development will not only make it easier for people to get around cities, but it will also boost the economy and tourism. The project should help alleviate traffic jams, help the environment, and improve people’s quality of life. This will be an important step toward Lucknow’s future growth and sustainability.
