August 3, 2025: In a surprising turn of events, American comedian Matt Rife and his friend Elton Castee have purchased the home and museum of legendary paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in Monroe, Connecticut. The purchase includes the infamous Annabelle doll, a supposedly haunted relic that inspired “The Conjuring” horror film franchise.
In a video posted on TikTok, Rife, who calls the purchase his “most random hobby ever,” explained his fascination with the paranormal. He stated that he is “obsessed” with all things haunted, particularly the Conjuring series, and that the Warrens made paranormal investigation mainstream.
The property, with an estimated value of around $627,600, will not remain private for long. The new owners have announced their plans to open it to the public for “overnight stays and museum tours,” allowing others to experience the haunted history of the location. Rife and Castee will be the “legal guardians” of the collection for at least the next five years.
The Annabelle doll, which is at the center of the collection, has a chilling history. According to the New England Society for Psychic Research, the doll was believed to be inhabited by the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle after it was gifted to a student nurse in 1968. The doll was later claimed to be “demonically possessed” by the Warrens.
