Army Veteran’s Viral Video Exposes Gurgaon’s “Garbage Friendly” Reality, Sparks Outrage

Gurgaon, India— A video by a former soldier that shows how bad garbage collection is in Gurgaon has gone viral, and people on social media are very upset and disgusted by it. Yashpal Singh Mor released the video, which shows a sad scene: a huge waste dump on the streets of Gurgaon, with cows and dogs freely picking among the trash, all in front of a tall building.

The statement that went with Mor’s picture was full of sarcasm and made fun of the “millennium city’s” trash collection. Gurgaon, Haryana, a city of the millennium, epitomizes the delight of residing in a city that excels in both animal welfare and waste management. You can see scenes like these all around the city; you don’t have to go very far to see such a beautiful place. Our civic agencies have done a great job; no other city can claim the same. He stated on Instagram, “Gurugram has set a new standard for urban planning and sustainability.”

People on social media are being sarcastic and disgusted.

The video rapidly got a lot of attention, and many on social media joined in with snarky comments and fury over the clear shortcomings of the government.

Someone posted, “Sir, this is called co-existence,” in a mocking tone. These animals never go hungry since our cities provide them so much to eat. “It’s so nice and kind of us and our city planners and businesses.” Another user agreed, saying, “Absolutely, sir!” Gurugram is undoubtedly the first city to use a new paradigm of “open ecosystem sustainability.”

More blunt critiques came in, with one person saying, “This is how it is in every part of the city.” The trash management system in Gurgaon is so bad that I can’t even find the words to convey how bad it is. One more person just said, “What a nice ecosystem.” The video shows how angry people are about things that have happened before. Gurgaon has been criticized before for its poor urban design and lack of sanitation, including a viral rant by a French woman who called the city a “pig house.”

Gurgaon officials have announced a big bid for waste management

Gurgaon officials have taken a big step toward solving the waste crisis in response to growing public outcry and ongoing difficulties with trash in areas. The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is going to put out a ₹402-crore (about $48.2 million USD) tender for door-to-door garbage collection.

The Hindustan Times spoke to MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, who said, “The city has waited long enough, and now we’re moving ahead with full force.” Dahiya went on to outline the new plan, saying, “We will hire four different agencies, one for each of the four city zones.” This decentralized model will get rid of monopolies, promote healthy competition, and make sure that people are more responsible. We want five bids for each one. The goal of this new decentralized method is to make rubbish collection services around the city more efficient and responsive.
