Gurugram (Haryana) [India], July 22: Haryanvi singer Rahul Yadav, popularly known as Fazilpuria, has broken his silence on the recent firing incident in Sector 71, Gurugram, where he was allegedly targeted by unidentified assailants while driving alone.
What Happened?
Recalling the harrowing incident from July 14, Fazilpuria told,
“That day, I left from Fazilpur to head home. I was alone. On the road behind my village, near Sector 71, bullets were suddenly fired at me. The attackers came in a white car. They initially overtook me, and I didn’t think much of it. But then they blocked my path by stopping their vehicle right in front of mine and began firing as soon as they got out.”
Reacting quickly, Fazilpuria said he reversed his car and managed to escape.
“I still couldn’t understand exactly what happened at that moment. At first, I thought maybe it was related to a threat I received around the time of Sidhu Moose Wala’s incident. But new details are now emerging,” he added, suggesting he received a threatening call later that night from someone using a Punjabi alias, which he intends to reveal “at the right time.”
Police Investigation Underway
Gurugram Police confirmed the incident and are actively investigating. According to PRO Sandeep Kumar,
“We received information about a firing incident on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) in Sector 71. Upon reaching the spot, we found a bullet mark and recovered a car. The FIR has been registered based on the victim’s complaint, and the accused has been identified.”
Political Background
The incident comes shortly after Fazilpuria’s foray into politics. He contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Gurgaon constituency on a Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) ticket. However, he lost the seat, garnering 13,278 votes, while BJP’s Rao Inderjit Singh secured the win.
As investigations continue, Fazilpuria has urged for transparency and hinted that more revelations could follow regarding potential motives behind the attack.
