In a shocking revelation, the Delhi Police have arrested a woman and her husband’s cousin for allegedly murdering her husband by electrocution at their home in Dwarka. What initially appeared to be a tragic household accident has now unfolded into a sinister case of premeditated murder.
The incident occurred on July 13, when 36-year-old Karan Dev was rushed in an unresponsive state to Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital in Uttam Nagar. Doctors there alerted the police after noting that the cause of death appeared to be electrocution.
🔍 Key Developments in the Case:
- Karan’s family initially suspected no foul play, even requesting to skip the post-mortem.
- The turning point came when Karan’s younger brother, Kunal, discovered disturbing chat messages between Karan’s wife, Sushmita Dev (35), and her alleged lover, Rahul Dev (24) — who is also Karan’s cousin (his uncle’s son).
- Investigations revealed that Sushmita and Rahul allegedly drugged Karan with sleeping pills, then killed him using a live electric wire.
- After the murder, Sushmita reportedly ran to her in-laws, claiming Karan had suddenly collapsed.
- Though Karan was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
- The post-mortem at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital confirmed electrocution as the cause of death.
- Kunal reported the suspicious chats to the police on July 16, which led to a deeper probe and the eventual arrests.
- A case of murder has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
- Both accused are currently in police custody and being interrogated, with further details expected as the investigation continues.
