New Delhi [India], June 27: Congress MP Pramod Tiwari launched a strong attack on RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Friday, accusing him of pushing a “hidden agenda” to alter the Constitution of India. Tiwari claimed that this agenda had already been rejected by the public during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
His criticism follows Hosabale’s recent remarks questioning the inclusion of the terms “socialist” and “secular” in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
Tiwari said, “The 2022 conspiracy — ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’ — aimed at changing Ambedkar’s Constitution was firmly rejected by the people. Hosabale’s statement reflects the pain of that failure and reveals a hidden intent.”
Tiwari further questioned whether the ruling ideology now intended to abandon values like equality and justice. “Is the goal to replace the Constitution’s ideals with the ideology of Nathuram Godse? Will the rights of 140 crore Indians be sacrificed for capitalist interests?” he asked.
He emphasized that the Indian Constitution rests on socialist and Gandhian values, as enshrined in the Directive Principles of State Policy.
Tiwari also alleged that the BJP and its ideological affiliates aim to dismantle the reservation system and centralize power. “They want to first change the Constitution, then end reservations, and eventually hand power to a privileged few,” he claimed.
Applauding the electorate’s resistance, he said, “I congratulate the Indian people for standing against this attempt in the 2024 elections.”
Reaffirming the Congress party’s stand, Tiwari added, “We will continue to protect Ambedkar’s Constitution and fight for the rights of the people.”
Hosabale made the original remarks during a programme commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre and jointly organized by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts and the Ministry of Culture.
At the event, he said the Emergency was not just a misuse of power but a direct assault on civil liberties. He added that those responsible had never apologized, urging them to do so — even if only on behalf of their political forebears.
