Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 27: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has set social media abuzz with a cryptic and emotionally charged post believed to be aimed at a leading actress who recently walked out of his much-anticipated film, Spirit. While Vanga did not name anyone, fans and industry watchers speculate that the remarks were directed at Deepika Padukone, who was previously reported to have exited the project.
In a post shared on his official X account, Vanga wrote:
“When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100 per cent faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are…”
The filmmaker went on to accuse the unnamed actress of undermining a younger actor and disregarding his years of creative effort:
“Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it.”
Though Vanga avoided direct reference, his statement aligns with recent developments surrounding Spirit. Reports earlier suggested that Deepika Padukone had exited the project, and Triptii Dimri, fresh off her success in Animal, was brought in as the new female lead.
In March 2025, speculation around a possible plot leak from Spirit also made headlines, with some drawing comparisons to the Tamil film Theri. However, no concrete evidence has been presented, nor has any link been established to Padukone or other cast members.
Confirming Dimri’s casting, Vanga shared on Instagram:
“The female lead for my film is now official :-)”
Triptii Dimri also expressed gratitude via social media:
“Still sinking in… So grateful to be trusted with this journey. Thank you @sandeepreddy.vanga… Honoured to be a part of your vision.”
Fans welcomed the announcement with enthusiasm, praising Dimri’s performance in Animal and expressing excitement about her reunion with Vanga.
Spirit, starring Prabhas in the lead role, is produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, and is one of the most awaited upcoming films in Indian cinema.
