Terror organisations used religion to justify killing of people, Islam condemns terrorism: Owaisi

All-party Indian delegation in Bahrain highlights India’s zero-tolerance for terror and calls for global unity against extremism.

Manama [Bahrain], May 25: AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, part of an all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, firmly rejected the misuse of religion by terrorist groups and called for unity against extremism during an interaction with prominent personalities in Bahrain.

“These terrorist organisations have wrongly used religion to justify killing innocent people. They have quoted Quranic verses out of context to justify their acts of terror. Islam condemns terrorism and the Quran categorically states that the killing of one innocent person is like the killing of all of humankind,” Owaisi said.

The delegation was in Bahrain as part of a multi-country mission to share India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism following the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad emphasized the need for stronger global support in the fight against terror. “We need support at every international forum and in the OIC. We don’t want to eliminate any country but urge Pakistan to dismantle its terror infrastructure and take action against terrorists,” Azad said.

BJP MP S Phangnon Konyak echoed the need for accountability from Pakistan, highlighting its continued use of terror as a tool against India. “Since partition, Pakistan has not stopped its terror activities against India. Our request is that Bahrain also call on Pakistan to take responsibility for its actions. The Government of India’s stand is very clear—if attacked again, India will respond,” Konyak asserted.

The delegation also includes MPs Nishikant Dubey, Rekha Sharma, Satnam Singh Sandhu, and Ambassador Harsh Shringla. They are engaging with leaders in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria to highlight India’s position on cross-border terrorism and counter global misinformation.

The multi-party effort aims to present a united front against terrorism and reinforce India’s message of peace, security, and accountability.
