New Delhi, May 24: The Indian film and television industry is in mourning following the sudden death of actor and model Mukul Dev, who passed away at the age of 54 on Friday night in New Delhi. Known for his versatile performances across film and television, Mukul’s unexpected demise has sent shockwaves throughout Bollywood.

A wave of emotional tributes poured in from his colleagues and friends. Ajay Devgn, who worked with Mukul in Son of Sardaar, shared a heartfelt note on Instagram:
“Still trying to process it… Mukul, it’s all too soon and sudden. You had a way of making everything lighter, even on the heaviest days. Om Shanti.”
Manoj Bajpayee, who starred alongside Mukul in the 1996 film Dastak, posted on X:
“Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young… Miss you meri jaan… until we meet again, Om Shanti.”
Actor Sonu Sood wrote:
“RIP Mukul bhai. You were a gem. Will always miss you,” also extending support to Mukul’s brother, actor Rahul Dev.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who directed Mukul in Omerta, expressed grief:
“Not done Mukul mere dost… so many more stories, so much more laughter. See you on the other side my dear friend.”
Actor Arshad Warsi said:
“He was a friend, colleague, a wonderful person with a beautiful soul… may his soul rest in peace.”
Neil Nitin Mukesh described him as a “powerhouse performer” and extended condolences to the Dev family. Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal also paid his respects, posting, “RIP Mukul Dev Ji. May his soul rest in peace.”
In an official statement shared on Saturday, Rahul Dev confirmed Mukul’s passing and revealed that the cremation would take place at Dayanand Mukti Dham in Delhi at 5 PM.
“Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully… He’s survived by his daughter Sia Dev,” Rahul wrote.
Mukul Dev was widely recognized for his roles in television series like Gharwali Uparwali, Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai, and Kumkum, as well as films including Yamla Pagla Deewana, R… Rajkumar, and Jai Ho. His final unreleased film is Son of Sardaar 2.
The exact cause of his death remains unknown at this time.
